2026 Mid-Year Legislative & Regulatory Conference

FAQs

Our conference attracts approximately 350-400 professionals from across the background screening industry, including business owners, executives, and employees of screening firms, as well as service providers and supporters of the profession. Attendees include CEOs, compliance officers, managers, general counsel, and team members from firms of all sizes—ranging from small businesses to large enterprises. This dynamic gathering also draws companies and organizations offering innovative services and products to the screening industry, making it a prime opportunity for networking and collaboration.
Registration is not required to book a room at the host hotel, but it is required to keep your reservation. PBSA will verify hotel bookings against conference registrations throughout the booking period, and any reservation without a registered attendee by Feb. 27, 2026 may be canceled. In past years, late cancellations have caused attendees to lose access to the PBSA room block and have exposed PBSA to financial penalties.
Sunday evening's attire is blue jeans dressy casual, while all educational sessions are business casual. We recommend wearing layers to stay comfortable, whether you're attending sessions or exploring the local attractions.
To help you generate support for your participation we've crafted a sample "Request to Attend" letter that you can customize to fit your situation. Take a few minutes to review the schedule, sessions, and confirmed exhibitors and do a little research to determine your approximate travel and incidental costs. Then, customize the sections in the letter highlighted in yellow to reflect your individual costs and how the conference can best serve you and your company. No two companies are quite the same, so feel free to customize the letter as much or as little as needed to best make your case.
Yes, select sessions qualify for PDCs. Please review the schedule of events for session information.

If you require a visa to travel to the United States and will need a letter of invitation for the conference, PBSA will gladly provide one. To find out if you will need a visa and the requirements, we recommend using U.S. Department of State Visa Wizard. PBSA will issue letters of invitation only to individuals who meet one or more of the following:
  • Confirmed speakers with a signed speaker's agreement
  • Registered attendees who have paid their registration in full
  • Exhibitor and sponsor representatives who have paid their booth and/or sponsorship invoice in full and are registered for the conference

To maximize attendance at our educational sessions for which our speakers have donated their time and expertise as well as at the exhibit hall to learn from and thank our exhibitors who continue to support the industry and PBSA, we respectfully request that no gatherings or meetings larger than 5 people take place during education or exhibit hours. If you would like to reserve a public meeting space at the hotel for meetings during education or exhibit hours PBSA will approve those reservations with the expectation that any gatherings during those times will be kept to 5 or fewer individuals. PBSA will not actively police this policy but hopes that our attendees will follow these guidelines so that we can continue to allow attendees to rent public hotel space for the small gatherings important to your business while ensuring everyone is making the most out of their attendance at our events. (Note: this does not apply to gatherings taking place outside of education and exhibit hall hours, use of private suites within the hotel, or activities taking place outside the hotel).

PBSA does not use a third-party to make hotel reservations. If you are contacted by a third party regarding your hotel reservations, such company is not acting on behalf of PBSA nor on behalf of the hotel. Contact the hotel directly if you have any concerns regarding your reservations.

In an effort to minimize these scams and to protect our attendees' information, PBSA has placed all hotel information behind the member log-in. Unfortunately, PBSA cannot completely prevent the scams from taking place. As always, take caution with your credit card information and ensure you are sending it to a confirmed and trusted source.
